WHERE: Merit Mark Point
TIME: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
WHAT: The Annual Predicted Log Competition between Catawba Sail and Power Squadron and the Charlotte Power Squadron has been a fun on-the-water activity for over fifty years. At stake is the Pride of Lake Wylie Trophy. The Predicted Log is a competition to test your boating and navigation planning skills. You will plan a course around Lake Wylie consisting of four to five legs, determining the time it will take you to get to each of the designated landmarks. Then you will run that course without reference to your speedometer or GPS, relying instead on your knowledge of what speed your boat will attain for a given RPM. The event is fun and not too challenging. The event is open to Catawba Sail and Power Squadron members. If you are not a member and would like to come and observe, you can contact Squadron Commander Bill Beers at email@example.com.
