America’s Boating Course© is our primary civic effort toward public instruction in the fundamentals of safe boating.   This course is designed to familiarize the student with the fundamentals of safe boating and qualify for certification in most states that require boating education before operating a watercraft.  It covers the basics needed to operate a boat safely.
Many boat insurance companies offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete America's Boating Course. And, this beginner boating class will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states including North Carolina's requirement for all boat operators under the born after January 1, 1988 to complete a National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) course.

America’s Boating Course© can be taken in any of three ways: in a classroom, on the Internet, or via home-study in case you want to try the web-based approach to learning.  All options include the same 244-page course manual.

Live classroom courses are normally offered in March, May and August/September and November.
